FM21 – Yes Man! – Club 05, Episode 14 – Déjà Vu

Hi! My name is Pierran Shearer. I am not related to Alan but he has inspired me to start a career in football management. This is my Football Manager story. I’m 28 years old and used to teach PE in a school in Cornwall.

If you haven’t caught up with the save so far, go back and read from the beginning here

January 2034

Recently, January has turned out to be a real challenging month. We’re made to play the top teams in the league around playing in the cup competitions. A dip in form can have dire consequences if January goes wrong. And 2034 is the year it goes quite wrong! It started positively but the loss to Juventus sent us on our way to not being able to win in 5 games! That’s bad enough but losing to Juventus and Inter mean they can catch up in the league. Drawing with Monza was just embarrassing! We’re also our of the cup after losing to Atalanta in the Quarter final. No SuperCup for us next year, unless we can sort out the league!

It was so bad that we actually drop to second place! That 9 point advantage at the end of December had gone and now we find ourselves two points behind Juventus! We need to sort this out and quickly!!

And that’s just what happens. February is a big improvement winning all games including the first leg against Bayern Munchen. Winning 2-0 at home would be great, if we can get an away goal in Munich! It also turned out to be my 200th game for Lazio.

The second leg was played shortly afterwards and we lost 2-1. But the goal difference was in our favour and we progress to the Quarter Final – the target set by the board at the beginning of the season.

Here we go again! We draw Real Madrid and yet again we are to play Zidane with him making stupid comments about me. My record against him are far from positive. We’ve only won once in the last 4 competitive matches and that was a second leg game. They still went though. It’s time that changes!

But the problem is we are facing a bit of an injury crisis. Some of our best players are out injured and without the squad depth I’d like, we would be playing players who would struggle against a side like Real Madrid.

Déjà vu, I think, comes to mind. Two 0-2 losses and we’re out of the competition at the hands of Real Madrid again. This is starting to get old. But so is moaning about it. So let’s concentrate on the league! It’s all we have left since we were dumped out of the Coppa Italia thanks to Atalanta.

The Run In

This season, the title race is only between us and Juventus. With an improvement in results since January, we find ourselves four points ahead of them but with a slightly more difficult final five games to play than them. So here we go! The excitement of another title race! All we have to do is not lose…

We draw against Napoli while Juventus win. That closes the gap at the top to 2 points. No room for error now!

Next up, Juventus smash our sister club 5-0. They go ahead of us for a couple of hours until we beat Cagliari in a nervy 1-0 victory. We’re still ahead by 2 points.

Juventus play first again and another emphatic win. Like last week, they climb above us until our revenge victory over Atalanta. We both win out next game so it comes down to the final game of the season…

The Final Day

We play Roma in our own stadium as we share it while Juventus host Parma. It’s all to play for here with both of us able to win the league. All we have to do is win! It’s ours to lose now.

The first goal in the match was scored by Popovic. A great cross by Sacolle find Popovic in the centre and he is able to direct it past the ‘keeper. 1-0.

But they quickly get one back in the 19th minute with Rovella climing highest to meet a corner who heads it past the ‘keeper. 1-1. It’s still ours, though as Juventus and Parma are still goaless. But Juventus score and it would be very different!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!! Salgado breaks away from the defenders thanks to a through ball and does the ‘keeper with his eyes. He looks one way and shoots the other. 2-1 Lazio now! A very exciting 20 minutes!

But 8 minutes later, Roma find the net. But the lines man has other ideas and rules it offside. VAR check and he is right. He was in an offside position after a wonder save from the Lazio ‘keeper.

The Lazio ‘keeper made a string of wonderful saves as Roma push for an equaliser. But it never comes. Instead, Lazio break away with Susanto down the left wing. He centres the ball looking for Popovic who is able to place it beyond the ‘keeper. 3-1 Lazio and it looks like we will keep the Serie A trophy.

And that’s all before half time! What a half of football for the neutrals! Jueventus and Parma remain 0-0 so it’s looking good for us!

The second half get under way and Roma get a goal back. Another cross which is headed home by the target man. it’s 3-2 Lazio. It’s getting a big nervy now! That is until you see Juventus have gone behind and are now 1-0 down!

But let’s score another one just to be sure of winning it! Over to you Popovic!

That’s exactly what he does. Popovic didges a couple of tackles before placing the ball in the bottom corner away from the ‘keeper. 4-2. And that is how the game ends! We have done it. And Juventus draw meaning we are comfortable winner in the end!

My star of the season was new boy Salgado, who spent last season out on loan in Switzerland, has bagged a load of goals for us! Him and Popovic have got to be some of the best goal scorers in the world by this point!

Finally, a bit of a disappoint season for AC Milan who will find themselves playing the the second division next season after being relegated. I’m sure they’ll bounce back but they arestruggling at the moment. They were always going to be casualties with our climb to success. Bring on next season!

Please come back and find out what happens next
