FM21 – Yes Man! – Club 04, Episode 04 – Ranieri Pizza

Hi! My name is Pierran Shearer. I am not related to Alan but he has inspired me to start a career in football management. This is my Football Manager story. I’m 28 years old and used to teach PE in a school in Cornwall.

If you haven’t caught up with the save so far, go back and read from the beginning here

Championship Playoff

Our first season was a successful one. We finished top of the league and progressed on to the Championship playoffs. With half the points earnt in the first phases transfered over, we would play 10 more games to try and win the league.

In order to motivate the team, I wanted to offer an insentive. More than winning the league and the cup final, I would be doing a Ranieri and ordering large amounts of pizza for the winners.

Six games into the final series, we had won 4 and drawn 2. Viitorul Constanta were falling and remained 8 points behind us.

As it stands, we would need to win one more game in order to win the league.

The match would be against 5th place UTA Arad who we’d lost to before. The usual, “get revenge” team talk was deployed and it work. We came away 2-0 winners and won the league!

A fairly dominant comfortable win meaning we have a few games reminding before a cup final. Against who? Well against Viitorul Constanta. It was their only chance to win anything and their form was shocking! They were falling down the table so this was a good chance for us to earn a domestic double.

Things were looking up regarding the team and their support for me. With the promise of winning a trophy and the even more exciting prospect of loads of pizza, the team were starting to like me and get on board with my philosophy: Shearer-ball.

The Cup Final

With the potential of a domestic double hanging over us and trophy-less in 7 years, it was the day we’d been working towards. The cup final! No white suits today, we mean business!

And very quickly, we stamped our mark on the game. In under 15 minutes, we scored with our only two shots on target.

A chance and an opporunity to relax? The players thought so. And we conceded shortly afterwards meaning we went into the break 2-1 up.

My team talk included references to pizza, the underdogs, Tottenham (a side who’ve not won anything in a long time) and some nonsense about never giving up! It seemed to work!

In a very boring second half that included a disallowed goal by youngster Contescu, we won the match 2-1! We were cup winners and completed a domestic double in our first season! Amazing!

There was only one thing left to do. Hand me phone, I need to order some pizza!

Pizza

I kept my promis and bought the team pizza. It wasn’t a big squad but my god, they eat a lot of pizza! We had to order about 4 times to fill the lads.

But by the end of the evening, the lads were happy. They’d won two trophies and qualified for European football. Bring on next season!

The end of season review was one that was pleasureable to read. Lots of success, records broken and memorable moments. I think I’ll just leave them for you to look at yourself!

Please come back and find out what happens next
